Alchemy Case Memo free essay sample
The death of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, just as the various corporate fakes and insolvencies over the past decadeââ¬including some from Fortune 500 organizations, for example, Enron, WorldCom, and Tycoââ¬reinforced the requirement for a solid arrangement of inner controls, and essentially expanded the familiarity with the board, financial specialists, the Congress, and general society of the significance of a solid arrangement of inward controls. Further, without successful interior controls, the board, just as financial specialists, have little confirmation that fake, inappropriate, and harsh activities are being forestalled or, if happening, are as a rule expeditiously recognized with fitting remedial activities taken. Evaluating the interior control condition, just as the structure of the controls themselves, keeps on being a basic advance in our examining procedure. Without setting aside the effort to comprehend and survey a companyââ¬â¢s controls, not exclusively would the firm not be in consistence with for the most part acknowledged inspecting measures and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, however we would likewise be not able to give the thorough and dependable reviews that the firmââ¬â¢s customers have generally expected. The reason for this notice is to examine the aftereffects of the review teamââ¬â¢s appraisal of Alchemy Inc. ââ¬â¢s inside controlsââ¬including recognizing missing controls, control shortcomings, and open doors for fraudââ¬and to prescribe upgrades to address any shortcomings. So as to increase a comprehension of Alchemy Inc. ââ¬â¢s inside controls, our group acquired and assessed corporate approaches and direction, just as reviews and reports led by the companyââ¬â¢s inner review division. We talked with staff over the association in regards to organization strategies, tasks, and their particular employment capacities. These faculty included administration, the inner review division, and staff from the accepting, delivery, and tasks offices. Furthermore, the group directed a stroll through to watch the procedures and controls set up over the organization. During our examination of Alchemy Inc. , our review group distinguished inner control shortcomings that leave Alchemy Inc. powerless against extortion, mistakes, and misuse. While the group found various control issues over the organization, our update depicts just those control issues which the group accepts to be the most noteworthy. We sorted out these shortcomings into two separate classifications: (1) official administration and interior review office shortcomings, and (2) tasks (control shortcomings found in the companyââ¬â¢s accepting, preparing, and dispatching divisions). Inside these two classifications, we arranged the shortcomings by seriousness (material shortcomings, huge lacks, and control insufficiencies) and gave what we accept to be financially savvy suggestions for conquering every one of these shortcomings. Official Management and Internal Audit Department- Current Control Environment, Oversight, and Monitoring Are Material Weaknesses At the official administration and inward review office levels, the group recognized two interior control shortcomings, the two of which speak to material shortcomings. These two material shortcomings are (1) an ineffectual control condition and (2) insufficient oversight and working of the inside review division, including the departmentââ¬â¢s chance evaluation and inward control checking obligations. Material Weakness: Ineffective Control Environment While the group found that administration has far reaching methods and controls set up, neither representatives nor the executives showed a comprehension of the reason or significance of the controls. We found that albeit a set of accepted rules, morals hotline, and bulletin exist, none were reliably utilized, authorized, or strengthened by organization representatives or the executives. For instance, after joining the organization, representatives must sign a set of accepted rules; in any case, the executives has not put forth a continued attempt to actualize or strengthen the code. Potential for error extortion: Compliance with the built up systems and controls were seen as inadequate. The misrepresentation announcing process, actually set up doesn't fill its expected need. The ineffectual control condition has made a demeanor and tone over the organization where mistakes and wrong conduct might be viewed as adequate, in this way making open door for hiding extortion and expected e rrors. â⬠¢Recommendationââ¬The group suggests that Alchemy Inc. ncrease attention to the set of principles by posting it around the office and strengthening it when required, for example, through occasional gatherings uncommonly intended to address this issue. Likewise, the organization ought to effectively appropriate the organization newsletterââ¬for model, conveying a duplicate to every representative personallyââ¬rather than inactively forgetting about it in the lunchroom or circulating it through email. The board ought to likewise effectively urge workers to utilize the morals hotline and other criticism scenes, for example, email or an unknown recommendation box for representatives without access to email. Further, the executives needs to show activities on the input by observing the impacts of the tips and criticism and conveying these impacts when upgrades are made, while protecting the namelessness of the defender. Material Weakness: Ineffective Functioning and Oversight of the Internal Audit Department The group discovered Alchemy Inc. ââ¬â¢s interior review office to be to a great extent inadequate because of the shortcomings in dealing with the division, the experience of the departmentââ¬â¢s staff, and the departmentââ¬â¢s oversight and observing over the organization. As of now, the inner review office is under the heading and management of the CEO, not the review council as best practices direct. Further, the inside inspector and his staff don't have the suitable degree of experience and capabilities expected to plan and apply viable control strategies. For instance, the group addresses the legitimacy of the CPA permit one representative had the option to get in just two days over the web. Likewise, the division doesn't play out any occasional oversight of procedures over the organization, observing to check whether the controls are set up and useful. For instance, the accepting assistant said that in his two years at the organization, the getting procedure has never been checked on by the inward review staff. â⬠¢Potential for error misrepresentation: A genuine irreconcilable situation can happen not just when an inward review office is straightforwardly directed by the executives, yet additionally when its plan and work is affirmed by the board. Thusly, the board has the chance to make extortion and error by coordinating the inside review office in a manner with the goal that the misrepresentation won't be found. This issue is possibly exacerbated when the inner review office doesn't have the fundamental experience to routinely test the structure and operational adequacy of controls over the organization. Moreover, if the inward review division isn't consistently directing oversight and observing of the adequacy of controls over the organization, the board won't know how compelling the controls are. What's more, the absence of predictable oversight makes a great ground for the expansion of misquotes or cheats by the representatives, beginning with low quality work and climbing to burglary. Suggestion: The interior review office ought to be put under the oversight of the Audit Committee, along these lines killing the possible irreconcilable circumstance by noting straightforwardly to the board. Also, the group suggests Alchemy Inc. to survey the certifications of every single inner examiner. On the off chance that lacking, Alchemy Inc. should enlist at any rate one real CPA to run the office, just as give and expect preparing to inspectors that come up short on the necessary experience. While preparing might be exorbitant for the organization, some ease options might be accessible, for example, self-guided on-line courses from real suppliers. The group accepts the advantages of such preparing will significantly exceed the expenses over the long haul. At last, the inner review office ought to reliably screen controls over the organization. The idealness of checking assumes a significant job in the interior control structure. At the end of the day, the more continuous the checking, the more opportune the revelation of the shortcoming. Found in time, the roblems can be fixed, and the dangers associated with misquote or misrepresentation can be limited. Consolidated, the Number of Significant and Control Deficiencies inside Alchemy Inc. Activities Represent a Material Weakness The group found various critical and control insufficiencies across Alchemy Inc. ââ¬â¢s tasks, which incorporates accepting, preparing, and dispatching. While every one of the inner control iss ues distinguished are just delegated a noteworthy or control lack, we accept the interior control issues inside and out across Alchemy Inc. ââ¬â¢s tasks speak to a material shortcoming. Critical Deficiency: Receiving Departmentââ¬â¢s Procedures to Process and Document Receivables Are Ineffective While the accepting representative tallies the quantity of sacks got and records it in a log gave to the board, the assistant doesn't hold documentation from the shipper to check the quantity of things sent. Despite the fact that a transportation slip is joined to each sack, the accepting assistant doesn't contrast this slip and the receipt or buy request to confirm the precision of the conveyance. Accordingly, the quantity of circles got isn't accommodated with the last charging sum. What's more, the entrance to materials got, yet not yet conveyed to tasks, isn't limited. â⬠¢Potential for error extortion: By not methodicallly affirming and archiving receipt of merchandise and not restricting access to crude materials, Alchemy Inc

Music and the American Culture Essay Example For Students
Music and the American Culture Essay Music has assumed a crucial job in human culture and proof dependent on archeological destinations can date it back to ancient occasions. It very well may be followed through practically all civic establishments in some structure. As time has advanced so has the music and the impacts it has on individuals. Music is a significant piece of mainstream society all through the world, yet it is particularly well known in the United States. The music business here is, and has been, a multi-million dollar business that keeps on assuming a significant job in American mainstream society. This is additionally a fine art and business that is perpetually changing as the occasions and all the more critically, innovation changes. Innovation has changed the manner in which music is made just as how it is created, promoted, sold, performed and different variables related with music. Womenââ¬â¢s rights have advanced over ongoing history just as sexual orientation jobs related with the two sexes. The women's activist development has gained incredible ground for the improvement and headway of ladies in this nation. Ladies are viewed as equivalents at home and in the work environment on account of this women's activist development and hypothesis. Ladies are not content with being housewives and are seeking after advanced education and better callings, recently saved for men. The women's activist development battles for ladies in all angles and isn't reluctant to support what they put stock in. Over my age I have seen models and strife among music and the women's activist development in different occasions. The relic I have decided for this task is the as of late well known Fat Joe and Lil Wayne melody, ââ¬Å"Make It Rainâ⬠. This melody turned out in 2006 however arrived at greater prevalence with the remix in 2007. This is likewise a melody that was selected for a Grammy grant in 2008. This is an extremely appealing tune that quickly got well known in the club scene, radio, MTV, and in mainstream society generally speaking. Many consider it to be an infectious rap melody with a decent beat, yet the real message it depicts would have numerous audience members and guardians nauseated. The essential message of this tune is that Fat Joe and Lil Wayne like to toss heaps of cash at strippers and make it resemble its pouring in the club, thus the title of the tune. These rappers are depicting the ways of life of youthful, rich, disobedient rap specialists. A bit of the verses in the chorale are, ââ¬Å"Got a bunch of stacks better get an umbrella. I make it downpour, I make it downpour (Oh), Make it downpour on them hoesâ⬠. This theme is rehashed on numerous occasions all through the whole tune. This kind of message and tune doesn't fit in with the messages, objectives, qualities and convictions of the women's activists development and we see a conflict between the music business, explicitly rap music, and the women's activist development when this tune. Since the start of its fine art rap music has been dependent upon examination all through its reality. In a Theresa Martinez perusing from the semester, the creator depicts rap music as an obstruction. She expands on a hypothesis of oppositional culture that was formed by Bonnie Mitchell and Joe Feagin (1995). In this article, ââ¬Å"POPULAR CULTURE AS OPPOSITIONAL CULTURE: Rap as Resistanceâ⬠, Martinez clarifies how African Americans, American Indians, and Mexican Americans draw on their own social assets to oppose persecution. She expresses this very protection from the rule culture thus, impacts mainstream society. She broadly expounds on conceivable thinking behind rap music and where the mentalities and convictions originate from. She quickly addresses the subject of ladies in rap and where the mentalities originate from. This article gave me an alternate perspective on music all in all and its impacts. In a sort that has attempted to carry light to numerous social issues, for example, police ruthlessness, destitution, medicinal services, separation just as others, I donââ¬â¢t completely comprehend why rap craftsmen and record organizations transparently corrupt and put ladies down. Martinez proposes that the sexism of ladies can reflect ones family experience or potentially structure just as mirror the chauvinist American culture and music industry. This kind of conduct and model that is being set for more youthful ages appears to fix all the positive messages and predicaments that was suffered by ages and performers previously. Rap music with negative messages towards ladies, or anything negative, adds to generalizations, puts a much greater magnifying instrument over rap music and makes it progressively able to analysis. Critique of New Age Bollywood - 681 Words
New Age Bollywood: Societyââ¬â¢s call or IQââ¬â¢s fall The actress flexes her belly muscles for the 367th time on screen. She seems to be quite content with the blatant stereotyping and the pigeon-holing. The fact that she is only there as a commodity doesnââ¬â¢t seem to bother her. The actor falls in love at first sight ââ¬â with her or her belly dancing, weââ¬â¢re not really sure. The same actor proceeds to bash the skulls of 453 similar minded men lusting after the aforementioned belly to prove his love for the actress. (With all due respect to the undoubtedly smart and perfectly reasonable 453 goons, it often beats me why they all never attack at once.) The audience erupts at the end of the painfully (er, coat please) long fight sequence, hooting,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Cue fully deserved standing ovation. I want you to stare at the mirror long and hard and think about where your life is headed. Oh, and you also reek of anti-nationalism. All events in the movies are fictitious and any resemblance, however compelling, to any Hollywood movie is purely coincidental and accidental. The rate at which Bollywood standards have fallen, and continuously kept plummeting, would easily put the 1929 Great Depression to shame. That is a feat in itself, and thus deserves applause. Thus, we dedicate this article to all those bright souls who over the years have played a huge part in this countryââ¬â¢s collective mental degeneration. Noise in Electronic Communications Systems - 1312 Words
An additive noise is characteristic of almost all communication systems. This additive noise typically arises from thermal noise generated by random motion of electrons in the conductors comprising the receiver. In a communication system the thermal noise having the greatest effect on system performance is generated at and before the first stage of amplification. This point in a communication system is where the desired signal takes the lowest power level and consequently the thermal noise has the greatest impact on the performance. This characteristic is discussed in more detail in Chapter 10. This chapterââ¬â¢s goal is to introduce the mathematical techniques used by communication system engineers to characterize and predict theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It turns out that W(t) is accurately characterized as a stationary, Gaussian, and white random process. Consequently, our first task is to define a random process (Section 9.1). The exposition of the characteristics of a Gaussian random process (Section 9.2) and a stationary Gaussian random process (Section 9.3) then will follow. A brief discussion of the characteristics of thermal noise is then followed by an analysis of stationary random processes From this point forward in the text the experimental outcome index will be dropped and random processes will be represented as N(t). EXAMPLE 9.1 A particular random process is defined as N(t) = U exp[âËâ|t|] + V (9.1) where U and V are independent random variables. It is clear that with each sample value of the random variables U(Ãâ°) and V (Ãâ°) there will be a time function N(t, Ãâ°). This example of a random process is not typical of a noise process produced in real communication systems but it is an example process that proves insightful as we develop tools to characterize noise in communications. EXAMPLE 9.2 A noise generator and a lowpass filter are implemented in Matlab with a sample rate of 22,050 kHz. Recall each time Matlab is run this is equivalent to a different experiment outcome, i.e., a different Ãâ°. A sample path of the input noise to the filter, W(t), and a sample path at the output of the filter, N(t), is shown in Figure 9.3 for a filter with a bandwidth of 2.5 kHz. It isShow MoreRelatedWireless Communication : A First Decade Of The 20th Century1356 Words à |à 6 PagesTelecommunication occurs when the exchange of information between two or more entities (communication) includes the use of technology. Features of Pilot Case Study-Free-Samples-Myassignementhelp.com
Question: Define the desired features of a pilot case study, as a prelude to a new case study research project? Describe why you might want only one Pilot Case, as opposed to two or more Cases? Answer: Features of Pilot case study Pilot case study helps the researcher to refine in the data collection plans by following the procedures and content of data (Yin 2013). This test is formative by nature that help the researcher to develop relevant lines of questions that need to have some conceptual clarification for the research design. On the contrary, the pretest can be treated as the occasion used for formal dress rehearsal where the data collection plan is conducted and links with the final plans. Furthermore, pilot test need to be conducted before seeking final approval from the professor (Conboy, Fitzgerald and Mathiassen 2012). It is essential to highlight a pilot case and this can be done in wide variety of ways. Pilot case may sometime represent some complicated case that is compared with the real cases that give rise to identification of specific data collection issues that is encountered in the pilot case. In that case, the pilot case study should be conducted by the researcher where substantial resource s may be devoted to this particular phase of the research study. It is important for the researcher to understand aspects like selection of pilot cases, nature of the inquiry for the pilot cases as well as nature of the reports from the pilot cases (Wieringa 2014). Selecting one pilot case as opposed to two or more pilot cases The particular case had been reviewed the preparations for data collection as well as depends upon case study whether it is single cases or multiple cases (Conboy, Fitzgerald and Mathiassen 2012). The single or multiple investigators should involve in conducting preparatory tasks. Here the case study investigators look at the desired skills that aim at planning for training activities by following the case study protocol, screening of candidate cases as well as role and purpose of a pilot case study. Therefore, each of the case studies needs to follow various steps that depend on specific inquiry. One of the desirable sequences is to understand completely into relative case study from managerial perspective. It is a known idea that entire case study team need to perform certain studies together. By doing this, the team need to work with increased efficiency as well as professional satisfaction as it ensure case study. The work on the pilot cases help in providing specific information on matters relating to field questions and about logistics of the field inquiry. To that, logistical question observes regarding technology in action for collecting information on matters relating to prevailing organizational issues. There are several variations used in the pilot study that are conducted in the pilot case studies where trade-offs are acknowledged as well as used satisfactory procedure for developing formal data collection plan (Vaivio 2008). Case study topic- HR Practices The topic for the case study is HR practices. The pilot study is used as small trial before conducting real study for checking whether research instruments work properly (Stake 2013). In addition, pilot study is one of the essential phases for conducting the researcher. Therefore, Piloting help researcher as it provide preliminary picture on matters relating to administrating instruments. It deals with administering the procedures of the data collection instruments as well as checking the reliability and validity of items of the instruments. The pilot case study highlights some values and presented to the research team and learned in other aspects such as research design as well as field procedures in the most appropriate way (Conboy, Fitzgerald and Mathiassen 2012). In case it is more than single pilot case study, the report shows the modifications that attempts to plan for next pilot case study as far as possible. Addition to that, the report involves important agenda for the given pilot case study that needs to be evaluated. In that case, the pilot cases need to be conducted in a way that the agenda used for final pilot case made use of good prototype especially for the final case study protocol. After completing the case study, the team need to conduct several studies altogether for improving the practice (Lillis 2008). Identifying specific type of evidence that is relevant to the case study Case study data collection formerly does not follow any type of formal protocol but provide specific information that need to be relevant to the case study. Case study evidence that is relevant to the case study comes from various sources. The evidence type discuss about the documentation, interviews, physical artifacts as well as direct observation and archival records. It is important for the researcher to know about a list of sources that can be quite extensive that include videotapes, films and photographs (Kratochwill et al. 2013). Documentation- This means collection of documentary information that is mostly relevant to the case study topic. The present case study topic is HR practices where types of information can take various forms and need to objectify explicit data collection plans. The documentation used should be stable that can be reviewed on repetitive basis. The documentation should have exact words that should consist of exact names, references as well as details of an event (Hancock and Algozzine 2016). Archival records- This means collection of data same like documentation and it is usually used in quantitative form. The archival records are records that takes is noted in form of computer files where the data is mentioned in an effective way (Conboy, Fitzgerald and Mathiassen 2012). Interviews-Interviews are one of the essential sources of case study information where the information is guided conversations rather than structured queries. Direct observations- Direct observation method can be used by observing the respondents and getting to cover events in real time. The information collected is contextual and covers the context based on case. Participant- observation- This source of evidence is same like direct observation method that shows interpersonal behavior as well as motives. Physical artifacts- This source of evidence shows insightful into cultural features as well as into technical operations in the most appropriate way (Conboy, Fitzgerald and Mathiassen 2012). Data Analysis Qualitative research method refers to the data analysis process in which the data has been obtained through enquiry. Social scientists use methods like interview, group discussion or observation to gain insight into behaviours, motivations, causal effect of humans. The relationship between variables is analysed through qualitative research. For the present research we have analysed the relation between HR practices and Employees. The variable HR practices have been sub-coded into Management and Organization. The variable Employee has been sub-coded into Performance and Knowledge. MAXQDA software has been used to analyse the data. Moreover the HR practices of the management has also a moderate correlation with the employees knowledge (r = 0.669, p-value = 0.0172). Both the correlations are statistically significant. On the other hand the analysis of the data shows that there is a slight negative correlation between employees knowledge and employee (r = 0.321, p-value = 0.1828). Moreover, the data was also analyzed for relation between HR practices and Empowerment. The analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. Employee was taken as the dependent variable. HR practices in the organization were taken as the factors. The analysis of the data showed that the reliability of the analysis could be increased by removing the variable HR practices. Conclusion For the present assignment we discussed the principles and methods of data and evidence collection from case studies. Case studies in HR practices involving employees were analyzed to for their behavior. Qualitative data analysis process was used to analyze the case studies. In the present assignment we have studied the case study method as a research process. We also compared the case study method with other research methods. We analyzed a case study on empowerment and job satisfaction. A qualitative analysis of articles with reference to empowerment and job satisfaction was also prepared.
